Welcome to MVP! We go by the names Michael, Robert, Zach, and Christina. We are John Jay College of Criminal Justice students, each analyzing our favorite websites. Our website is devoted to music, violence, and production. Music connects with many issues that are happening in society and also brings people together. Whether it is parties, schoolwork or just learning about diverse genres of music, everyone can relate to it. Violence connects with many social and political issues going on today. Whether it’s the FBI or a video game, violence will always be involved in many different ways. The FBI involves dangerous real life situations where an agent’s life is on the line. On the other hand, video games also deal with violence but in a virtual world. Just like music and violence, production has a huge impact on our society today. Production is another way of bringing people together, each learning and advancing fashion and literature from one another.
Music, violence, and production are all powerful aspects in our minds which is why we call ourselves MVP. These topics relate to each other since rap music has led to violence and many people buy music albums in order to express how they feel, just like clothing and books. When new shoes and clothes come out, violence is a possibility due to supply and demand. We hope you enjoy our website just like we enjoyed creating it.

Overview of our topics...
Drugs tend to change people just like the friends I had in high school that I'm no longer in contact with. Because I'm so interested in figuring out why people turn to drugs: Facebook, YouTube, and D.A.R.E. were there to help me figure out the answer as they all fought for one cause; drug prevention. Drug prevention is the only way a drug user can change in a good way not only for his or herself but for those around them as well. Abusing drugs such as marijuana can lead to even bigger addictions such as Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, also known as LSD, or Heroin. As people aimlessly take drugs day by day and continue to wreck their bodies and brains, when will they start to realize that they need an entire re-evaluation in life?

SeaWorld always seemed to be the perfect place to take your children. Magical Whales performing so beautifully with their trainers and put on a great show is what one truly looks forwards to. What happens when what you thought was incredibly brilliant turns out to the most inhumane act upon animals? A lot of people don't know the truth behind SeaWorld's closed gates. Orca whales, including many other captivated sea mammals, are taken from their families and put in tanks that are just big enough to hold their massive size. Unable to swim around, getting brutally attacked and injured by other whales, and being physically/mentally drained; How many more trainers have to be killed for us to realize it's time to put an end to SeaWorld?

Music, sports, and fashion relate to each other very similarly but a lot of people do not realize this. Those that do realize this usually wear what celebrities are wearing. Violence erupts because not everyone can have what they want. This is a growing issue and many people are losing their lives due to material items. It's crazy how people will resort to muder in order to have a material item. Many websites like Abc, Complex, and Espn do raise awareness on this topic. Supply and demand plays a huge role in the limited avaliablity of some sneaker releases. The hype of promotion is also a huge factor because it attracts more consumers. Nike won't even disclose their own marketing strategies! They also try to prevent violence but have been unsucessful in doing so. How far will you go to get something you want ?

Stop and Frisk has led to harassment by police officers since so many people have been stopped while doing nothing illegal or containing illegal items. People believe racial profiling comes in to play when a police officer stops a "suspicious" character in an urban neighborhood or a predominantly black neighborhood. Stop and frisk should be more controversial because more than enough civilians I know personally have said that they have been in situations where a cop questioned them due to their appearance. Maybe the police should reconsider new tactics on how and when to approach a person that looks like a potential criminal, because some people just get down right offended.
